 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  NFL Legend Lawrence Taylor Hospitalized, Family Shares Update


Lawrence Taylor is currently in the hospital receiving treatment for a stomach-related condition.


The 67-year-old NFL icon has been under medical care for about a week, according to a statement shared on April 27 by his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh. 


While there is no confirmed discharge date yet, he is said to be responding to treatment and remains under close observation.


The update also made it clear that the situation is not considered life-threatening, offering some reassurance to fans who have been following the news.


Through his representative, Taylor expressed appreciation for the support he has received, thanking those who have kept him in their thoughts during this period.


For many, Taylor’s name carries weight far beyond the current health update. 


He built a remarkable career with the New York Giants, where he spent all 13 seasons in the league after being selected in the 1981 NFL Draft.


His impact on the game was immediate. He picked up Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in his debut season and went on to win Defensive Player of the Year multiple times. 


At his peak, he was widely seen as one of the most disruptive defensive players the sport has ever seen.


Taylor also played a key role in two Super Bowl victories with the Giants, helping secure championships in 1987 and 1991. 


His influence on the field earned him a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999, along with the rare honor of having his jersey number retired by the franchise.


His life after football has not been without challenges, including legal issues that drew public attention years after his playing days.
