Nigerian Media Personality Roby Ekpo Breaks Down in Tears Over Wife’s Alleged Remarriage in US

Popular Nigerian media personality, Roby Ekpo, was overcome with emotion as he recounted the painful breakdown of his marriage during a podcast appearance, revealing how he allegedly discovered that his wife had remarried in the United States after years of separation and financial support from him.

In an emotional episode of the Honest Bunch Podcast, which is yet to be released, Ekpo fought back tears while narrating the events that led to the collapse of his decade-long marriage.

The broadcaster said he only became aware of the full extent of the marital crisis after stumbling upon private messages in which his wife, Mayowa, allegedly expressed deep dissatisfaction with their relationship.

Quoting parts of the message, Ekpo read:

“I don’t even care if he loves me or not because what can love do for me besides stress me? He isn’t taking care of me as a man should. He isn’t satisfying me sexually. He isn’t helping my spiritual life. He isn’t spoiling me. He isn’t anything good… I have been coping with unsatisfying sex for almost three years.”

Visibly shaken, the 48-year-old said the words hit him hard, especially after years of trying to sustain the marriage from a distance while she lived abroad.

“I’m 48 years old. I don’t have a kid… I started going for sperm tests,” he revealed, adding that he had believed they were both working towards starting a family.

Ekpo alleged that he had been sending money consistently for six years while his wife was in the US.

“For six years she travelled, and I was sending money every time. I have receipts here. I would do a gig of ₦500,000 and send ₦200,000. I was even sending flowers,” he said.

He described the emotional detachment during her brief return to Nigeria last year, saying he went to the airport with two cars to welcome her but received no hug or kiss.

“I slept in the living room for two days,” he added.

Ekpo further claimed that his wife lived in a shared apartment with a male flatmate while abroad, and that he later discovered the man was romantically involved with her. He also alleged seeing a photograph of her sitting on another man’s lap in a restaurant.

The final blow, according to him, came when reports emerged in April 2026 that his wife had allegedly remarried in Texas.

“Ten years of my life… it pain me,” Ekpo repeatedly said, struggling to control his emotions.

Roby Ekpo and his wife got married in November 2015. The couple had largely kept their relationship away from the public eye until the recent reports of the alleged remarriage surfaced.

Following the reports, Ekpo had earlier taken to Instagram to thank supporters for their messages of concern, while indicating he was trying to move on.

“My people, thank you for the calls and messages. I really appreciate y’all,” he wrote at the time.

He described the full story as “too long” and added a message wishing his wife well in what he referred to as her “third marriage.”
