The Member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency, Hon. Mimi Ifeoma Azikiwe, has launched the Onitsha North 1 Work and Train Initiative, aimed at addressing youth unemployment and promoting sustainable economic empowerment.

The initiative is designed to equip young people with practical, market-relevant skills through a structured one-year intensive training programme across diverse vocational and professional areas.

In a statement issued by her Director of Media and Communications, Nnamudimma Wenga Ikwuazom, it disclosed that 50 unemployed but willing-to-learn youths from the constituency will be selected to participate in the scheme.

The statement further indicated that, beyond skills acquisition, each participant will receive a monthly stipend of ₦150,000 throughout the duration of the programme to support their engagement and ease financial constraints.

To qualify, applicants must be indigenes or residents of Onitsha North 1 Constituency, registered voters, not above 30 years of age, and must have completed higher education not later than 2022.

Interested applicants are required to submit their applications via WhatsApp to 07083686476 on or before April 20.

The statement noted that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to restore the dignity of youths and deepen grassroots-driven development within the constituency.
