  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report.  POLICING ANAMBRA: CP ORUTUGU RE-ECHOES IGP’S DIRECTIVES AGAINST CORRUPTION AND UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT, NOTES THAT THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE BELONGS TO NIGERIANS, AS PRESIDENTIAL ORDER ON POLICE WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP PROTECTION DUTIES REMAINS IN FORCE


The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has re-echoed the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu psc(+) NPM on zero tolerance for corruption and unprofessional conduct among officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the Police Force belongs to all Nigerians and must remain accountable to the people.


The CP gave the directive today 15th April 2026 during a briefing with officers at the Command Headquarters, Awka, where he emphasized the need for strict adherence to professional ethics, discipline, and respect for the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.


He warned that the Command will not tolerate any form of misconduct, including extortion, abuse of office, and other unprofessional acts capable of undermining public trust and confidence in the Police. He stressed that any officer found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary action in line with extant regulations.


CP Orutugu further noted that the Presidential order on the stoppage/withdrawal of Police personnel from unauthorized VIP protection duties remains in force and directed strict compliance by all officers. He cautioned against the misuse of Police personnel for private engagements not officially approved, adding that defaulters will be sanctioned accordingly.


The Commissioner reiterated the importance of people-friendly policing, respect for human rights, and professionalism in security service delivery, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.


The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property while upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
