 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. A statement by the Special Adiviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onaunuga  Describes Olusola Oke as a distinguished figure who has successfully bridged the worlds of law and politics, making lasting contributions to both fields.


The statement recalled Oke’s early political journey as a member of the House of Representatives, where he represented Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in 1992, as well as his appointment to the pioneer board of the Niger Delta Development Commission in 2000.


While acknowledging his leadership role as National Legal Adviser of the People’s Democratic Party between 2008 and 2012, President Tinubu also noted Oke’s continued relevance in national politics following his move to the All Progressives Congress, where he served as Deputy Director of Legal Affairs in the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation in 2023.


It further emphasizes that Oke’s excellence in legal practice provided a strong foundation for his impactful political career and service to the people.

Despite contesting twice for the governorship of Ondo State without success, the President commended Oke’s unwavering commitment to public service, including his role as Executive Chairman of the Oil Producing Area Development Commission in 2004.


President Tinubu prayed for more years, good health, and greater wisdom for the celebrant as he continues to serve the nation.
