Prime Video has renewed Young Sherlock for a second season, continuing the origin story of Sherlock Holmes as a teenager.
The series, which premiered as a binge release on March 4, stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as the young detective and is executive produced by Guy Ritchie, who also directed the first two episodes. Ritchie is set to return to direct the season two premiere and developed the series alongside creator Matthew Parkhill.
Prime Video described strong global engagement for the show, reporting that 45 million viewers worldwide watched at least part of the series within its first four weeks. The platform said a majority of viewers came from outside the United States, with significant audiences in the United Kingdom, India, and Germany. In the U.S., the series logged 678 million viewing minutes during its first week before later falling out of the top 10 streaming originals.
The cast also includes Dónal Finn as Moriarty, along with Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth.
The series is led by showrunner Matthew Parkhill, who executive produces alongside Ritchie and several others. A large producing team supports the project, with Motive Pictures handling physical production.
