Taylor Swift leads 2026 American Music Awards nominations with eight nods, topping a competitive field of music’s biggest stars for the upcoming ceremony.
Swift, who already holds the record as the most-awarded artist in American Music Awards history with 40 wins, is nominated in several major categories, including artist of the year, album of the year for The Life of a Showgirl, and song of the year for “The Fate of Ophelia.”
Close behind Swift, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, and Sombr are tied for second place with seven nominations each, reflecting a wide mix of pop and country artists dominating this year’s list.
Carpenter earns recognition in top categories for artist, album, and song of the year with Man’s Best Friend and its single “Manchild.” Wallen also lands nominations in the same three major categories for his project I’m The Problem.
Newcomers Olivia Dean and Sombr are both in contention for new artist of the year. Dean also picks up nominations for album of the year with The Art of Loving and song of the year for “Man I Need,” while Sombr is recognized for “Back to Friends” in the song of the year category.
A large group of first-time nominees includes Alex Warren, BigXthaPlug, KATSEYE, Leon Thomas, PinkPantheress, RAYE, Role Model, SIENNA SPIRO, and Tate McRae, highlighting a strong year for emerging artists across multiple genres.
Also continuing their awards momentum are EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami—the vocal performers behind the animated group Huntr/X from KPop Demon Hunters—who earn nominations for song of the year, best vocal performance, and best pop song.
The American Music Awards will be held May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, with Queen Latifah set to host. Winners are determined entirely by fan voting, which is currently open.
