 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24.  6 BRIGADE TROOPS NEUTRALISE TWO SUSPECTED BANDITS, RECOVER ARMS IN TARABA 


Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA)/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), deployed at Sarkin Kudu in Ibi Local Government Area( LGA) of Taraba State, have successfully neutralised two suspected bandits during a well-coordinated clearance operation aimed at flushing out criminal elements threatening peace and security in the state.


Acting on credible intelligence received from a reliable source on 18 May 2026 regarding the activities of suspected bandits at a hideout around Dooshima District in the Sarkin Kudu area of Ibi LGA, troops swiftly mobilised to the general area for a tactical raid operation.


Upon reaching the area, the troops came in contact with the armed assailants, leading to a fierce exchange of fire with the criminals at the identified hideout. During the encounter, troops successfully neutralised two suspected bandits, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.


Items recovered from the operation include:


• One AK-47 rifle

• One AK-47 magazine

• One locally fabricated pistol

• One Android phone

• Three small mobile phones

• Two charm vests and other personal items 


The recovered items are currently in custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.


Commenting on the successful operations, The Commander, 6 Brigade NA/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended the troops for their courage, bold handling and swift response which he noted was in line with the current proactive drive of the Bde and is in pursuit of the directive of the Chief of Army Staff to flush out criminal elements and ensure lasting peace and security across Taraba State and its environs.


The Commander  assured that the current reward and sanction system of the Comd would apply to the gallant soldiers involved in the raid operations.  He further reiterated  the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against all forms of criminality and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies in the State.
