A 31-YEAR-OLD INDIANA WOMAN IS FACING CHARGES AFTER PASSING OUT DRUNK ON TOP OF HER INFANT SON, RESULTING IN HIS DEATH.(PHOTO).

A 31-year-old Indiana woman is facing charges after passing out drunk on top of her infant son, resulting in his death.

Police in Gary, Indiana, were called to a home on the 1400 block of E. 50th place at 9 a.m. on May 16th.

Kendra Slaughter had woken up that morning and discovered her 4-month-old son, Lurant Finely, had blue lips and was unresponsive.  Kendra called her husband, and 911.

When officers arrived on the scene, the baby was deceased on the bedroom floor after paramedics had failed to revive him.

Kendra told police she had been working on homework when she passed out. However, her boyfriend would tell officers he had pulled the baby out from under Kendra before leaving for work, and the fact that she drank and slept with her baby was a point of contention between the two.

The couple had chosen not to have a crib because they felt it enslaved their baby.

Kendra had a BAC of .103 when officers gave her a breathalyzer on scene.

There was clear animosity between the couple with the father calling out "you k*lled my baby" while Kendra was being placed under arrest.

Kendra responded by saying, "I drink because you're broke."

She would later admit to falling asleep with the child while she was intoxicated the previous evening.

It was ruled that Lurant had passed away as a result of accidental asphyxiation.

Kendra Slaughter is being charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death or catastrophic injury, neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, and neglect of a dependent.

She is being held without bond at this time.
