Terrifying new dashcam footage shows moment doomed NBC helicopter falls out of the sky The terrifying moment an NBC helicopter fell out of the sky and plunged into the ground near where an SUV had slammed into a Metro bus was caught on dashcam. The video, obtained by KTLA, shows the helicopter descending, caught from afar on the vehicle camera of Yera Valencia. She said: “I downloaded the video of my dashcam. It’s a little dot on the video. It’s a crisp video and it just goes down.” She added: “God, it’s so close, it could have happened to anyone. My parents walk down the street.” The two back-to-back Tuesday night crashes resulted in five deaths — two involving the bus and SUV, and three as a result of the chopper going down, killing reporter Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw and pedestrian Edy Gutierrez Mejia.

 French parliament votes to repeal colonial-era slavery laws


France’s lower house of parliament voted unanimously to repeal centuries-old royal decrees that codified slavery in French colonies, marking a symbolic step in the country’s reckoning with its colonial past.


Lawmakers in the National Assembly approved legislation to formally annul the “Code Noir,” a set of 17th- and 18th-century laws that regulated slavery across French colonial territories. The measure passed 254-0, according to results published by the Assembly.


Although slavery was abolished in France in 1848, the decrees were never officially repealed.


The legislation still requires approval by the Senate before it can become law. A vote in the upper chamber has not yet been scheduled.


French President Emmanuel Macron endorsed the repeal earlier this month, saying the continued existence of the decrees was incompatible with the values of the French Republic.
