 Soludo Advocates Saturday Funerals at Awka Diocese All Knights’ Day

‎Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has proposed that funeral ceremonies be held on Saturdays to reduce disruption to economic and government activities during the week.

‎Speaking at the 2026 All Knights’ Day Celebration of Awka Diocese at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, Soludo said shifting funerals to weekends would preserve working days while still honoring cultural traditions. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to God and praised the Church’s role in promoting moral values and community development.

‎The governor dedicated Anambra State and his leadership to divine guidance, urging citizens to support the government through prayer, unity, and responsible citizenship. He described faith-based institutions as key partners in building a prosperous and disciplined society.

‎The event brought together government officials, Papal Knights, KSJI, Knights of St. Mulumba, Knights of St. Michael the Archangel, and their Ladies. Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor of Awka Diocese thanked attendees and said the celebration aims to strengthen unity and commitment among knightly orders.

‎In his homily, Rev. Fr. Dr. Evaristus Ifeanacho urged knights to uphold sincerity, discipline, and defense of the Catholic faith. Bishop Ezeokafor also called for unity across knightly groups in service to the Church.

‎Highlights included goodwill messages from Church leaders and fundraising for the renovation of St. Johnbosco Seminary, Isuaniocha. The event ended with thanksgiving and prayers for Anambra State and its leadership.
