Hilary Swank has reflected deeply on the lessons she’s learned since welcoming her twins, Aya and Ohm, in April 2023. She explained that watching her children discover the world has helped her appreciate life’s smaller details and rethink her own perspective.
Unlike adults, who approach experiences with preconceived notions, her twins encounter everything with fresh eyes, which she finds both inspiring and thought-provoking.
Swank emphasized the importance of staying present with her children, even while balancing her career and advocacy work, noting how rewarding it feels to truly live in the moment.
Her advocacy extends beyond parenting, as she champions infant health through her involvement with HealthyBaby and supports California Bill AB 1901, which would require diaper manufacturers to disclose all ingredients.
Swank stressed that once parents learn about potential health risks in everyday products, they cannot ignore them, and she believes such transparency is vital for protecting children’s futures.
She highlighted how disease can begin as early as in utero, underscoring the importance of research and planning for healthier outcomes.
Becoming a mother later in life has also shaped Swank’s parenting style. Welcoming her twins at 48, she described the timing as ideal, allowing her to be more patient, understanding, and fully engaged.
With her career already established, she feels free to immerse herself in motherhood without distraction.
Swank expressed fascination with her children’s development, particularly their minds and personalities, and shared that this stage of her life has given her the ability to be a hands-on, present parent in ways she might not have been earlier.
