 BRICS SUMMIT: NIGERIA SEEKS STRONGER GLOBAL SOUTH-SOUTH COOPERATION IN NEW DELHI, INDIA  Nigeria reaffirmes its resolve to stronger cooperation with BRICS nations and the Global South, as the bloc marks 20 years since its formation.  This is at the 18th BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister, in New Delhi.  Ihiala LG Chairman Welcomes NYSC Corps Members, Charges Them on Responsible Service

The Executive Chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area, Engr. Anayo Orjiakor, has warmly welcomed the newly posted corps members to the area and congratulated them on the successful completion of their university education and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation exercise.


Representing the chairman during the reception was the Head of Information and Culture, Mrs. Uzoma Ekwu, who thanked God for granting the corps members safe journey mercies to Anambra State and eventually to Ihiala Local Government Area.


Mrs. Ekwu explained that Ihiala Local Government Area is made up of ten communities and described the area as peaceful, hospitable, and accommodating. According to her, the people of the area see corps members as relatives, friends, and siblings, thereby creating a friendly atmosphere for them to thrive during their service year.


She further stated that with the conducive environment provided by the local government, the corps members were expected to discharge their national duties diligently to ensure that the objectives of the NYSC scheme are achieved.


The Information and Culture Head also advised the corps members to desist from acts capable of tarnishing the image of their various states and the NYSC scheme, including vandalism, destruction of lives and property, armed robbery, drug abuse and trafficking, as well as other social vices.


Mrs. Ekwu further charged the corps members to render selfless and dedicated service throughout their service year while demonstrating competence, commitment, and professionalism in their various places of primary assignment.


She assured them that the local government administration would continue to support their welfare and provide the necessary assistance to ensure a successful and rewarding service year in Ihiala.
