 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF LOCALLY FABRICATED FIREARM IN DARAZO L.G.A.


Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a suspect for unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm in Nahutan Darazan, Darazo Local Government Area.


According to a report received at the Darazo Division on 28th May 2026 at about 1730 hours, a vigilant and concerned citizen, resident of Nahutan Darazan, Darazo L.G.A., reported that he had received credible information that one Shafiu Abdulkadir of the same address was in possession of a locally fabricated firearm.


Upon receipt of the complaint, the suspect was immediately intercepted. During interrogation, his statement was recorded under caution, and he voluntarily confessed to the offence. He admitted to constructing the firearm himself using metal components.


The firearm and tools used in fabricating the weapon were recovered as exhibits. The suspect and exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Bauchi, for discreet and thorough investigation, after which he will be arraigned in court.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), commends the informant for his patriotic conduct and prompt report, which reflects fulfilment of his civic responsibility. He further urged traditional and community leaders to continue partnering with the Police in the fight against illegal arms possession and other violent crimes.
