Teddi Mellencamp, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, recently shared a vulnerable photo on Instagram showing the scars from her emergency brain surgery as she continues her battle with stage 4 melanoma.
Diagnosed in 2022, the cancer later spread to her lungs and brain. Although doctors confirmed last October that the disease was “gone,” she is not officially considered in remission.
Mellencamp has been documenting her recovery journey, including her hair regrowth, and asked followers for advice on how to style her short locks now that wigs no longer fit comfortably.
Her candid post drew praise from fans and fellow reality stars, who encouraged her to embrace her natural look.
Kaitlyn Bristowe and Caroline Stanbury were among those who complimented her short hairstyle, while Mellencamp shared a lighthearted video of her son Cruz attempting to style her hair.
She joked that his efforts left her resembling one of the Paul brothers, showing her ability to find humor even in difficult circumstances. Mellencamp shares Cruz and daughters Slate and Dove with her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave.
Beyond her physical recovery, Mellencamp has been focusing on emotional healing, attending therapy and working to rediscover joy.
Earlier this month, she revealed she is in a new relationship with an “older man” she affectionately referred to as Derek on her podcast Two Ts in a Pod.
She credited him with being supportive and keeping her spirits high, saying his humor has been especially meaningful during her cancer journey.
For Mellencamp, resilience now means not only fighting the disease but also embracing love, laughter, and the strength to move forward.
