They Felt Like Brothers to Me Growing Up - Mel B’s Daughter Phoenix Reflects on Beckham Friendship Amid Family Rift

Phoenix, daughter of Mel B, has spoken about her long-standing friendship with the Beckham family, offering a personal glimpse into a bond that stretches back to childhood.

The artist, who has also grown up in the public eye like David and Victoria Beckham’s children, said she still keeps in touch with the family despite everyone now living busy, separate lives.

Her comments come at a time when Brooklyn Beckham, 27, has made headlines for distancing himself from his family, previously stating he does not wish to reconcile and describing parts of his family dynamic as “performative.”

He also alleged ongoing tension with his parents and siblings Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

While Phoenix did not directly address Brooklyn’s situation, she reflected warmly on her own connection with the Beckham siblings, describing them as a major part of her upbringing.

“We were born in the same hospital, I literally grew up with them,” she told HELLO! magazine.

She went on to explain that their families were closely connected when they were younger, with frequent visits and shared time between homes.

“I have so many good memories with the boys,” she said. “We were around each other’s houses a lot. It was like having brothers, especially since I was an only child for a long time.”

Phoenix added that while life has moved on for everyone, the bond has not disappeared completely.

“We’re still in touch,” she said. “But everyone is busy now, so we see each other when we can.”

She also spoke more broadly about growing up in the spotlight as the daughter of Spice Girl Mel B and dancer Jimmy Gulzar, saying fame never felt unusual to her.

Phoenix described her relationship with her mother as unusually close, noting that their bond often feels more like friendship.

“Mum and I started off as friends,” she said. “Sometimes we forget we’re family because we’ve been through so much together. She had me young and took me everywhere with her.”

Mel B herself has also been candid about personal challenges in recent times, including her experience with menopause, which she says had a significant impact on her wellbeing.

She has previously spoken about symptoms such as hot flushes, sleep disruption, and memory lapses, describing the experience as ongoing and demanding.

“The menopause journey really takes its toll,” she said in a recent reflection, adding that women need more education and support to better manage it.
