A 51-year-old woman who admitted her role in the death of her former lover has been sentenced to 15 to 40 years in prison following a third-degree murder conviction.
Ronda Marie Parker was sentenced Monday for her involvement in the 2024 killing of Michael Pruitt in Bradford County. Prosecutors said her conduct reflected “indifference” to the deadly plan carried out by her estranged husband, Terry Parker.
Authorities said Ronda Parker spent several days with Pruitt before the killing, aware of what was allegedly going to happen, and continued to keep him at the residence without warning him of the danger. Prosecutors said she failed to alert the victim despite knowing the circumstances surrounding the planned confrontation.
Terry Parker, 48, was convicted last month of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Pruitt at a home in Springfield Township. He testified that he acted in the heat of the moment but denied planning the killing. A jury deliberated for less than an hour before returning a guilty verdict that carries a mandatory life sentence.
Court testimony indicated that Ronda Parker and Pruitt had previously been involved in a romantic relationship. Prosecutors also said Terry Parker’s motive stemmed in part from accusations that Pruitt had acted inappropriately around a young girl he helped raise.
The sentencing brings a two-year investigation and prosecution to a close.
A third co-defendant, Summer Heil, 38, who was identified as Terry Parker’s girlfriend, previously pleaded guilty to hindering apprehension after admitting she helped with the disposal of Pruitt’s body. She received a sentence of nine months to three years, which was added to existing sentences, extending her total prison time to between three years and nine months and fourteen years.
Both Ronda Parker and Heil testified as prosecution witnesses during Terry Parker’s trial.
