 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. A FORMER BRITISH AIRWAYS PILOT, KWAME YEBOAH, HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN EIGHT YEARS IN PRISON AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF SEXUALLY ABUSING A YOUNG GIRL HE ALLEGEDLY GROOMED THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA.(PHOTO).

 A former British Airways pilot, Kwame Yeboah, has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing a young girl he allegedly groomed through social media.


Yeboah, a 30-year-old former England youth basketball international, first came into contact with the victim on the video-chat platform Omegle. Their communication later continued on Instagram, where they exchanged messages and regularly spoke through calls.


Prosecutors told the court that Yeboah built a relationship with the girl online before arranging to meet her in person, leading to a series of offences that ultimately resulted in his conviction and imprisonment.


A court heard that Yeboah, described by prosecutors as a dangerous predator, travelled to meet the teenager after grooming her on-line and checked into a hotel before sexually assaulting her on two occasions in his car.


The Ghana-born former pilot, 30, later admitted to multiple s*xual offences, including three counts of rape and one count of assault by penetration. Appearing before the court via video link from prison, he was sentenced to eight years and four months in custody and will serve an additional year on licence following his release.


He was sacked by BA as soon as the airline was told about his crimes.


Yeboah's sickening offences were exposed after the girl's mother learnt from one of her young friends that she had been speaking to a man online and later had sex with him and contacted police.
