PRESS RELEASE Otti's Re-election Claim By Sen. Orji Kalu Is Wishful Thinking, Not Political Reality. The Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress wishes to categorically dissociate itself from the comments credited to one of our respected leaders and serving Senator, His Excellency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, suggesting that the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti of the Labour Party, will be re-elected in 2027. While His Excellency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is entitled to his personal opinion as guaranteed by the Constitution, we wish to make it abundantly clear that his remarks do not represent the position, aspirations, or official stand of the APC in Abia State. As a party, we consider the statement as very unfortunate and at variance with the collective resolve of our members and teeming supporters who are working tirelessly to rescue Abia State from a government built on propaganda rather than measurable performance.  ‎ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT REINFORCES ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY ON TRANSPORT SECTOR ABUSE

‎By Chikodili Ideke E.

‎The Anambra State Government has dismissed five haulage enforcement officers accused of extortion, assault, theft, and harassment of commercial transporters, in line with its zero-tolerance policy on misconduct in the transport sector.

‎Speaking to journalists in Awka on 19 June 2026, the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo, said the dismissals demonstrate the government’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and the protection of law-abiding operators.

‎“This is a step toward strengthening discipline and assuring operators that government will protect their interests while enforcing strict compliance with regulations,” he said.

‎Hon. Ibuzo stated that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is creating an environment where transporters can operate without intimidation or unlawful levies.

‎“The government will not tolerate actions that erode public trust or burden legitimate operators,” he added.

‎He noted that enforcement activities are meant to promote compliance, not to enable personal enrichment or oppression. Transport operators, he said, are vital to the state’s economy and deserve fair treatment. He urged stakeholders to cooperate with government agencies and report misconduct through appropriate channels.

‎Earlier, the Anambra Internal Revenue Service ordered the immediate dismissal of the five officers engaged by Danjude Construction Limited, its haulage revenue collection partner, following allegations of double taxation, extortion, assault, theft, and harassment.

‎A directive signed by the Executive Director of AIRS’ Informal Sector Directorate, Dr. Ndubuisi Achebe, warned that any of the dismissed officers found participating in haulage enforcement would be acting illegally and would face arrest and prosecution.

‎The Commissioner reaffirmed that Anambra remains committed to a transport system founded on professionalism, integrity, and respect for the rights of all road users.
