Fr. Ebube Muonso Distributes Cash, Food Items to Over 300 Elderly Persons, Pledges N50 Million for Hospital Bills

The Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma popularly known as Ebube Muonso has distributed bags of rice and cash gifts to no fewer than 300 elderly residents of Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The beneficiaries, most of whom are in their 70s and above, also received their monthly stipends from the cleric during the outreach held on May 30.

Speaking to journalists, Fr. Obimma described the gesture as a long-standing commitment inspired by his deep love and concern for the elderly, noting that supporting senior citizens has become a regular part of his ministry and humanitarian activities.

He announced plans to visit hospitals within the area to offset the medical bills of patients, with a proposed expenditure of about N50 million.

According to him, I came here today to spend time with the elderly people in my community. This has become a routine because I cherish old age and have great respect for our senior citizens.

"Many of them, including some priests, benefit from my monthly support. Beyond the stipends, I also provide food items and other forms of assistance whenever the need arises.

"Today, over 300 elderly persons from this community are going home with bags of rice. Across different communities, the number of people benefiting from our charitable programmes is enormous.

"For nearly four years, we have carried out this initiative consistently and by God's grace, it will continue for as long as I live. Seeing the joy and smiles on their faces gives me great fulfillment."

The cleric urged young people to cultivate respect for older persons, stressing that honouring elders is a pathway to receiving blessings and living a meaningful life.

"Young people must learn to value and respect old age. If you desire a long life, respect those who have gone ahead of you. Show them kindness and they will bless you.

"Even as a priest, I still depend on their prayers. They pray for me every day, and I believe those prayers have sustained me. That is why I always say that givers never lack."

Fr. Obimma revealed that the coming week would be dedicated to humanitarian activities, particularly the settlement of hospital bills for indigent patients.

"This week is dedicated to charity. Next week, we will visit hospitals and pay medical bills amounting to about N50 million. After that, I will retreat into the desert for a period of prayer and fasting. We trust God for miracles because we serve a miracle-working God," he said.

The elderly beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the priest's generosity and offered prayers for God's continued blessings upon him. Fr. Obimma, in turn, prayed for the beneficiaries, wishing them good health and long life.
