 Flu outbreak hits Air Force basic training in Texas after vaccine mandate lifted, with 159 cases reported among recruits    A flu outbreak is affecting Air Force basic training in San Antonio, Texas, with at least 159 confirmed cases and two hospitalizations reported among recruits as health officials respond to a cluster of infections at Joint Base San Antonio. The outbreak developed over the past several weeks and has prompted medical staff to isolate symptomatic trainees, treat cases, and monitor those who were in close contact with infected individuals. Officials said additional cases and hospitalizations are still being assessed. An Air Force spokesperson confirmed the situation, describing it as a localized influenza outbreak within the basic military training program. INVESTIGATION ONGOING AS BAUCHI POLICE RECOVERED STOLEN HONDA HENNESSY, ARREST 3 SUSPECTS


The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in the fight against auto theft with the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle and the arrest of three suspects in connection with the crime.


The complainant, a 53-year-old man and resident of Danjuma Goje Street, Bauchi reported the theft of his Honda Hennessy on 8th June, 2026 at about 1130 hours. The make of the vehicle is 2000 model, black in colour, with chassis number JHGC9564614804512. It was stolen in March 2026.


Upon receipt of the complaint, operatives of the Command attached to  'A' Division Township swung into action and launched an intelligence-led investigation. Through untiring follow-up and coordinated efforts, the stolen  car was located and recovered today, 8th June 2026, along Gombe Road, Bauchi.


The diligent operation, led to the successful arrest of three suspects in connection with the offence and subsequent sale of the vehicle. They are: Sani Saidu, 58-year-old, of Madaki Street, identified as the first buyer; Shuaibu Fagarau, 54-year-old, of Kofar Idi, as the second buyer, and Samaila Abdullahi, 46-year-old, also of Kofar Idi area, Bauchi.


All suspects are currently in custody and are cooperating with investigators. The vehicle has been recovered and kept as an exhibit pending the conclusion of investigations. 


It could be recalled that this is the third stolen motor vehicle recovered by the operatives of 'A' Division in less than a month. 


The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has therefore commended the operatives for their usual swift response and professionalism. He assured members of the public that the Command remains committed to ridding Bauchi State of criminal elements, and that trio suspects would be charged to court upon completion of discreet investigation.


The CP also urged vehicle owners to adopt additional security measures such as tracking devices and proper documentation to aid recovery in case of theft incident.
