 OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA: TROOPS DESTROY TERRORIST HIDEOUTS AS OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS COMMENCE IN KATSINA STATE Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY) have commenced a deliberate offensive operation, code-named Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, targeting terrorist and bandit elements operating within Matazu Local Government Area and adjoining communities in Katsina State. The operation was launched following the unfortunate incident that led to the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted alongside his wife by suspected terrorists and bandits in the area. The operation is aimed at locating and neutralizing the perpetrators of the heinous act, dismantling criminal networks and restoring security within the affected communities.  Abducted General dies in captivity


Major General Abubakar Rabe (rtd), who was abducted in Katsina State exactly two weeks ago, is dead.


Confirming his passing in a statement issued on Saturday, June 13, the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Muazu, said the retired senior military officer d!ed from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension during his captivity.


The government expressed deep sorrow over the development, noting that extensive efforts were made by the state government and security agencies to secure the ex-Army General’s release to no avail.


“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the General’s death while in bandits’ captivity. Despite the relentless and concerted efforts of the State Government and various security agencies to secure his safe release, the situation ended in this tragedy,” the statement said


According to the government, the late General’s abduction and subsequent death represented a significant loss not only to his immediate family and Katsina State but also to Nigeria as a whole.


Governor Dikko Umaru Radda extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and the nation, describing the incident as a dark moment that underscored the need for stronger collaboration in tackling insecurity.


The retired major general was travelling to Katsina on Saturday, May 30, alongside his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, and their driver, Abdullahi Sa’idu, when their vehicle was ambushed along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area.
