Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY  SCREENING TEST TO HOLD IN LAGOS ON JUNE 20, 2026


The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has informed the general public, particularly prospective candidates, parents, guardians, school administrators, and other relevant stakeholders, that the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) will conduct its Admission Screening Test in Lagos State on Saturday, June 20, 2026.


In preparation for the successful conduct of the exercise, a liaison team from the Nigerian Defence Academy is expected to arrive in Lagos on June 11, 2026, to undertake necessary consultations, coordination activities, and other preparatory arrangements with relevant government agencies and stakeholders.


Prospective candidates are advised to adhere strictly to all guidelines and instructions issued by the Nigerian Defence Academy regarding registration, accreditation, examination procedures, and other requirements. Candidates are also encouraged to regularly monitor official NDA communication channels for updates and further information concerning the screening exercise.


The Lagos State Government remains committed to supporting programmes and initiatives that promote educational advancement, leadership development, and opportunities for young Nigerians to serve the Nation through distinguished institutions such as the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
