 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity


The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State.


Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area.


The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers.


Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.


Chairman of the union in the FCT, Mr Abdullahi Shafa, explained that the nationwide solidarity protest was to condemn the killing of the teacher and abduction of the school children and demand their release.


Shafa said that the protest was in compliance with a directive from the union’s national headquarters.


He described the incident as disturbing and unacceptable, noting that teachers should not be subjected to such violence while carrying out their duties
