Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Odumeje Criticises Tinubu Government Over Rising Insecurity, Kidnappings


The General Overseer of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu over the worsening security situation in the country.


Speaking during a church service, the cleric expressed concern over the increasing cases of kidnappings and killings across Nigeria, accusing political leaders of failing to adequately address the crisis.


Odumeje lamented that while ordinary citizens continue to face threats from criminals, top government officials move around with heavily protected convoys and bulletproof vehicles.


He argued that all Nigerians have equal rights and should enjoy the same level of security as public office holders, noting that the nation's resources belong to all citizens.


The cleric also decried the plight of kidnapping victims, alleging that many Nigerians remain in captivity while politicians focus on future political campaigns.


According to him, elected leaders should prioritise the safety and welfare of citizens rather than political ambitions.


Odumeje further questioned the government's handling of insecurity, expressing concern over reports of bandits making demands from authorities while many abducted persons remain unaccounted for.


He called for urgent action to address the country's security challenges and ensure the protection of lives and property.
