 Rep. Chuck Edwards withdraws reelection bid after House Ethics Committee finds evidence of misconduct Republican Rep. Chuck Edwards of North Carolina announced Wednesday that he is ending his reelection campaign, days after the House Ethics Committee said it found “substantial evidence” that he violated House rules involving sexual harassment and a hostile workplace. Edwards said he will complete his current term in Congress but will not seek another term representing North Carolina’s 11th District. He said serving Western North Carolina has been the honor of his life and thanked supporters for their trust. Edwards, who has served in the House since 2023, was expected to face Democratic nominee Jamie Ager in the November general election. The decision came after the House Ethics Committee investigated allegations that Edwards engaged in inappropriate conduct toward two young female staff members.  PUBLIC NOTICE: DISINFORMATION ON CDCFIB RECRUITMENT EXERCISE


The attention of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has been drawn to false information on the ongoing recruitment exercise being circulated across various channels, particularly social media platforms.


To set the record straight and prevent confusion among the general public, the Board wishes to state as follows:


The public is advised to exercise caution and verify all information online. Misleading messages concerning the ongoing recruitment exercise are disruptive and capable of undermining the aspirations of genuine applicants.


The Board is taking all necessary steps to identify and prosecute individuals or groups responsible for creating and disseminating false information. The spread of unauthorized and misleading information is a criminal offense. Offenders will be brought to book and sanctioned in accordance with extant laws.


This serves as a final warning to all social media users and account holders involved in propagating falsehoods relating to the ongoing recruitment exercise. The Board is collaborating with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to monitor and address all cases of misinformation. Violators will be prosecuted accordingly.


Applicants and stakeholders are strongly advised to rely ONLY on the official CDCFIB recruitment portal: recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng and verified Board communication channels for authentic updates.


The Board appeals to the public to report suspicious content and refrain from sharing unverified information.
