Tiffany Haddish reveals her dating requirements and ‘self-marriage’ philosophy

Tiffany Haddish recently shared her unique perspective on dating and self‑love during a June 9 episode of the Hey Jonas! podcast with Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas. The 46‑year‑old comedian outlined her requirements for a partner, including a credit score of at least 700, which she said reflects responsibility, and an EIN number that has been active for five years, signaling leadership and stability.

She added that good hygiene is non‑negotiable, joking that she notices a man’s hands first and is immediately turned off by dirty nails.

Beyond her dating checklist, Haddish opened up about her philosophy of “self‑marriage.” She explained that the longest relationship anyone will ever have is with themselves, so committing to self‑love makes sense.

Haddish said she has found that the kinder she is to herself, the kinder the world seems in return. She emphasized that understanding her own needs and happiness is essential before expecting someone else to fulfill them, framing self‑marriage as a promise to grow and nurture herself.

While Haddish clarified that marrying herself doesn’t mean she’s closed off to future relationships, she described it as an “open marriage with me.”

She stressed that self‑commitment is about resilience and transformation, and that it helps her set higher standards for potential partners.

Her reflections blended humor with sincerity, underscoring her belief that both self‑respect and clear expectations are key to building healthy connections.
