 How Bauchi Accountant-General Transferred State Funds to Private Company - Witness   Trial of the Accountant-General of Bauchi State, Sirajo Muhammed Jaja continued on Monday, September 21, 2026 at the Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu with a witness revealing how Jaja diverted state funds to a private company. Jaja is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC ,  alongside Aliyu Abubakar, Abubakar Muhammed Hafiz, Ari Manga and Muhammed Aminu Bose, for alleged corruption. The defendants are being prosecuted by the EFCC on an amended five-count charge of money laundering, diversion of public funds, and criminal misappropriation of funds to the tune of N1,635,270,350.9 (One Billion, Six Hundred and Thirty-five Million, Two Hundred and Seventy Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Naira, Nine Kobo).  Train driver killed and nine critically injured after passenger trains collided in England 

   A train driver has died, and nine people remain in critical condition following a major collision between two passenger trains in Bedford, England, a town located north of London.

The incident occurred on Friday evening when a moving train struck a stationary train on the tracks. The collision resulted in injuries to approximately 80 passengers. By Saturday morning, 28 individuals remained hospitalized due to the severity of their injuries.

The deceased driver was a former representative for the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT). Union leadership expressed deep devastation over the tragic loss, extending condolences to the driver's family, friends, colleagues, and members of the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF).

The crash involved two London St. Pancras-bound services, one originating from Corby and the other from Nottingham.

Passengers described a scene of immense destruction and chaos inside the carriages. The force of the impact threw travelers from their seats, dislodged rows of chairs, and filled the cabins with thick smoke. Witnesses reported seeing numerous passengers with severe lacerations and broken limbs amid widespread panic and screaming.

Emergency response teams, including multiple air ambulances, arrived at the rural site within minutes. First responders had to cut through a roadside hedge with shears to access the tracks and begin treating the victims. Survivors were systematically triaged in a nearby field based on the severity of their injuries before being evacuated across farmland to a main road for further medical transport.
