 Verydarkman Slams Voters Allegedly Selling Choices for ₦15,000 in Ekiti Election

Outspoken social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has sparked intense national conversation after condemning a viral video of a woman allegedly celebrating after selling her vote during the recently concluded Ekiti State governorship election.

The controversial activist expressed deep frustration over what he perceives as a growing tolerance for electoral misconduct among the electorate. According to him, the cycle of bad governance in Nigeria will persist as long as ordinary citizens continue to trade their democratic rights for short-term financial gains.

The Paradox of Voting Choices and Poor Governance

In his characteristic passionate style, Verydarkman pointed out the hypocrisy of citizens who routinely lament the country's failing healthcare system, rising insecurity, and lack of basic infrastructure, yet eagerly accept nominal sums of money during elections. He noted that the ₦15,000 allegedly received by the celebrating voter could never compensate for the long-term neglect of public services.

"Every time, we keep pitying poor people, whereas many of them don’t even pity themselves," the activist remarked. He further illustrated his point by arguing that if any relative of those selling their votes fell critically ill, the very infrastructure they compromised such as functional emergency medical services and equipped hospitals would be non-existent to save them.

Calling Out Media Silence and Public Apathy

Verydarkman did not spare the mainstream media and the general public, accusing them of turning a blind eye to blatant electoral malpractice. He referenced another video shared by public figure Isaac Fayose, which reportedly showed individuals distributing voting cards, expressing disappointment that such crucial evidence of misconduct failed to dominate national headlines.

The activist urged Nigerians to direct their anger not just at the political class, but also at fellow citizens who enable bad leadership through vote-selling. He warned that until the electorate begins to value the power of their ballots over temporary cash handouts, the quest for a prosperous and functioning Nigeria will remain a distant dream.
