Bandits Kidnap 17 Residents In Fresh Southern Kaduna Attacks

Armed bandits have reportedly abducted at least 17 residents and injured one person during a fresh wave of attacks on communities in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, according to SaharaReporters.

The incidents occurred between Saturday and the early hours of Monday, according to residents who spoke about the attacks.

The latest assault took place on Monday morning in Hanya Maro, where gunmen reportedly attacked farmers working on their farmlands and kidnapped six people. The number of casualties from the attack has not yet been confirmed.

Earlier attacks were reported in Ungwan Busa and Banono Angwaku between Saturday and Sunday. In Ungwan Busa, three residents were abducted while one person sustained injuries. In Banono Angwaku, eight people were reportedly taken away by the attackers, with no injuries recorded.

The renewed attacks have deepened concerns over the worsening security situation in Kajuru LGA, where communities continue to face repeated kidnappings and violent raids. Many residents also remain hesitant to speak publicly due to fears of retaliation.

The attacks come just weeks after six residents abducted from Kutaho Village in Kagarko Local Government Area were reportedly killed while in captivity despite the payment of a substantial ransom.

Community leaders have since urged the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen efforts to protect vulnerable communities, rescue kidnapped victims, and bring those responsible for the attacks to justice.
