Chloe Bailey recently opened up about the challenges of being compared to her sister Halle as they rose to fame as the duo Chloe x Halle. Speaking on Call Her Daddy, she recalled their early days, including their first viral cover of Beyoncé’s “Best Thing I Never Had,” which was posted on World Star.
Chloe explained that while she and Halle share a bond, their musical styles are very different Halle gravitates toward jazz and neo-soul, while Chloe leans into pop and heavy beats. Despite their individuality, fans often tried to pit them against each other, which sometimes hurt.
Chloe admitted that the criticism led to moments of self-doubt, but she and Halle leaned on each other for support. She described their dynamic as “fire and water,” emphasizing how they balanced one another through both negative comments and positive feedback.
Growing up, Chloe also struggled with pressure to change her hair, but Halle’s presence helped her embrace her natural look. Their closeness gave them strength to face criticism together and celebrate achievements side by side.
Even as they pursue separate projects, their bond remains strong. Chloe recently supported Halle at the premiere of her rom-com You, Me & Tuscany, calling her sister her “safety blanket.”
She expressed joy in seeing them both succeed individually, which makes their collaborations even more special. Chloe herself is thriving, starring in the psychological thriller Strung on Peacock and releasing a collaborative album with Timbaland titled Resurrection.
Their journeys highlight how individuality and sisterhood can coexist, making their partnership unique and enduring.
