 TW- A Connecticut officer arrived on the scene to find a suspect fatally attacking his unconscious father with a baseball bat. The officer fired nearly 20 rounds, with most or all striking the son, before the son finally stopped the assault.  This sad incident took place in Meridian, Connecticut, on Sunday- July 19th.  On that date, officers from the Meridian Police Department responded to a local residence after receiving multiple calls from panicked and screaming neighbors and bystanders. The callers described a "severe domestic incident" taking place with an "armed aggressor" at approximately 10:00 a.m.  The first officer on the scene was Anthony Offiaeli. He witnessed 38-year-old Robert Lee Jenkins lll carrying out an absolutely savage attack on a man lying prone and unconscious on the ground.  FIFA Clarifies Golden Boot Tie-Breaker Rules as Kylian Mbappe Leads Lionel Messi


The race for the prestigious Golden Boot is heating up, and football's global governing body, FIFA, has officially clarified who holds the advantage heading into the crucial semi-final matches. In a statement released on Sunday, FIFA confirmed that France captain Kylian Mbappe currently leads Argentina's Lionel Messi in the battle to finish as the tournament's top scorer.


The Current Standings: Mbappe vs. Messi


Both superstars have enjoyed sensational campaigns, finding the back of the net eight times each. However, Mbappe holds the upper hand over the Argentine legend due to his superior playmaking statistics. The French talisman has registered three assists so far, compared to Messi's single assist, giving him the decisive edge in the standings.


Understanding FIFA’s Tie-Breaker Criteria


To clear up any confusion regarding how the individual accolade is awarded in the event of a tie, FIFA detailed the exact rules used to separate players with the same goal tally:


• First Tie-Breaker (Assists): "If two or more players score the same number of goals, the number of assists (as determined by the members of the FIFA Technical Study Group) shall be decisive," the statement read.

• Second Tie-Breaker (Minutes Played): If players remain tied after factoring in assists, the player who has spent the least amount of time on the pitch will claim the award. FIFA added, "If two or more players are still equal after taking into account the number of assists, the total minutes played in the tournament will be taken into account, with the player playing fewer minutes ranked first."

Other Contenders in the Golden Boot Race


While Mbappe and Messi lead the pack, several other elite forwards have made significant impacts. Norway's clinical striker, Erling Haaland, has been eliminated from the competition but bows out with an impressive seven goals to his name. Meanwhile, England's star duo of Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane remain tied further back, with both players having registered six goals and one assist each.
