 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 Five SAPS officers appear in court on corruption charges


Five South African Police Service (SAPS) constables attached to the West Rand Public Order Policing (POP) Unit have appeared before the Kagiso Magistrate’s Court on charges of corruption following their arrest by the Gauteng Anti-Corruption Unit.


The accused are:

• Thabang Petrus Mabapa (36)

• Karabo Mpati (31)

• Pfano Mugeri (32)

• Nsovo Marvin Mudabula (34)

• Rudzani Vhutali Nelushi (31)


According to the allegations, the officers stopped a motorist during a stop-and-search operation on 12 July 2026 at the intersection of R41 Road and Badshani Street in Rietvallei, Azaadville.


The complainant alleges that after informing officers he had approximately R22,000 in cash in his vehicle, one officer took the money, questioned its origin, and returned only R2,000, allegedly retaining the remaining amount despite being told the funds were lawfully earned.


The matter was reported to Kagiso SAPS, and the complainant allegedly identified the five officers after they were instructed to report to the police station.


The accused have been charged with corruption. As the matter is before the courts, they remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
