 Set designer Mary Kate Golding found dead in Queens home as police investigate possible murder-suicide Police are investigating the deaths of television set designer Mary Kate Golding and her husband after the 34-year-old was found fatally stabbed inside her Queens home. According to the New York Police Department, officers responded shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 21, to a residence in Astoria, where they found Golding with a fatal stab wound to her back. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Several hours later, at about 6:39 a.m., officers responded to a separate 911 call reporting an unconscious person near Astoria Park South and Shore Boulevard. Police found an unresponsive man in the park, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. An NYPD source identified the man as Joseph Azzaretto, Golding's husband. ICPC Uncovers 908 Ghost Workers in Federal Payroll Fraud, Police Tops List with 570 Suspects


The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has identified the Nigeria Police Force and several federal ministries and agencies as having the highest number of suspected ghost workers in its ongoing payroll verification exercise.


ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN) disclosed the findings while speaking on the commission’s investigation into payroll fraud across Federal Government institutions, according to a BBC Pidgin report on Wednesday.


The anti-graft agency said it discovered 908 suspected ghost workers across at least 50 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), leading to the recovery of approximately ₦942 million in fraudulent salaries.


Ghost workers are defined as fictitious names inserted into government payrolls to siphon public funds. In some cases, officials allegedly add names of relatives or associates who are not actual employees.


Aliyu highlighted a notable case involving a man who allegedly placed his wife, son, and mother-in-law on the payroll while also collecting salaries for 12 additional workers.


The Nigeria Police Force recorded the highest number of suspected fake workers. 


“For this operation, we identified 570 people whom we suspect are among the fake workers collecting salaries without working,” the ICPC chairman said.


The National Water Resources Authority followed with 80 suspected ghost workers. “For this agency, we identified 80 names of people collecting salaries even though they are not workers of the agency,” Aliyu stated.


Other institutions with significant numbers include:


- Federal Ministry of Works: 56 suspected fake workers

- Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs: 24

- Federal Ministry of Defence: 19

- Federal Ministry of Electricity: 17

- Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment: 17

- Federal Ministry of Health: 15

- Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation: 12


The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Federal Ministry of Interior were also listed among affected institutions, though the ICPC did not disclose the specific number of suspected fake workers in those offices.
