 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

Michael Olise Shatters Pelé's Historic World Cup Assist Record


France's World Cup campaign may have ended without a podium finish, but winger Michael Olise ensured his tournament would never be forgotten by carving his name into the history books. The Bayern Munich playmaker has officially set a new FIFA World Cup record for the most assists in a single tournament, surpassing the legendary Brazilian icon Pelé.


Overtaking a Football Legend


Olise secured his historic seventh assist during France's high-scoring 6-4 defeat to England in the third-place play-off. In doing so, the 23-year-old eclipsed Pelé's long-standing record of six assists, which was established during Brazil's legendary 1970 World Cup run.


A Masterclass in Playmaking


Throughout the competition, the former Crystal Palace academy graduate was the heartbeat of the French attack. Olise's pinpoint crossing, vision, and composure made him a constant threat, forming a lethal partnership with captain Kylian Mbappé.
