 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8.  Prince Harry visits Birmingham Children’s Hospital to mark 20 years of WellChild Nurse programme


Prince Harry visited Birmingham Children’s Hospital on Thursday, July 9, as part of his ongoing work with charity WellChild.


The Duke of Sussex, who has served as WellChild’s patron since 2007, attended the hospital to mark the 20th anniversary of the charity’s WellChild Nurse programme.


The role was created in 2006 and partly funded by Prince Harry to support children with complex medical needs and their families by helping coordinate care between hospitals and homes.


During the visit, Harry highlighted the work of WellChild, which focuses on improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and supporting families caring for them.


Harry has remained involved with the charity through events including the annual WellChild Awards, despite stepping back from his royal duties in 2020 and moving to California with Meghan Markle and their two children.


At last year’s WellChild Awards, Harry reflected on his long association with the organisation, recalling his first attendance at the event nearly two decades earlier.


He said the charity’s focus on helping children with complex medical needs live at home with family and community support had remained central to its work.


The Birmingham visit forms part of Harry’s U.K. trip, which has included appearances connected to several organisations he supports.
