 Netflix announces new Sesame Street movie as long-running children’s show continues “Sesame Street” is heading to the big screen with a new movie in development at Netflix. The streaming service announced Thursday that it is developing the film in partnership with Rideback and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind the long-running children’s series. The announcement comes as Netflix renews its agreement with Sesame Workshop for Season 62 of “Sesame Street.” Additional episodes from Season 57 are scheduled to arrive on Netflix in late November. The movie is part of Netflix’s broader effort to expand its preschool programming with new series, films and games featuring familiar characters and educational content. “Sesame Street” first premiered on Nov. 10, 1969, and features Jim Henson’s Muppets.
