 Rep. Chuck Edwards withdraws reelection bid after House Ethics Committee finds evidence of misconduct Republican Rep. Chuck Edwards of North Carolina announced Wednesday that he is ending his reelection campaign, days after the House Ethics Committee said it found “substantial evidence” that he violated House rules involving sexual harassment and a hostile workplace. Edwards said he will complete his current term in Congress but will not seek another term representing North Carolina’s 11th District. He said serving Western North Carolina has been the honor of his life and thanked supporters for their trust. Edwards, who has served in the House since 2023, was expected to face Democratic nominee Jamie Ager in the November general election. The decision came after the House Ethics Committee investigated allegations that Edwards engaged in inappropriate conduct toward two young female staff members. IGP DISU RECEIVES DG NOA, SEEKS STRONGER PARTNERSHIP ON NATIONAL VALUES, CRISIS PREVENTION


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today received the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, during a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.


During the visit, the Director-General reaffirmed the Agency's commitment to promoting national values, civic responsibility, and public enlightenment. He highlighted the Nigeria Identity Project and the National Values Charter as key initiatives for strengthening national cohesion, while proposing closer collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force in the areas of public sensitisation, intelligence sharing, and early conflict prevention.


In his remarks, the IGP underscored the importance of professionalism, respect for human dignity, and ethical policing in strengthening public confidence in the Force. He also emphasized the need for responsible use of social media by verifying information before dissemination and encouraging positive values among young people. The IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to sustained collaboration with the National Orientation Agency in advancing national security, responsible citizenship, and national development.
