 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 Mary J Blige explains why she chose not to have kids: 'No freedom'


Mary J. Blige has spoken candidly about her decision not to have children, explaining that her perspective was shaped by what she witnessed growing up. 


She recalled seeing relatives struggle with childcare and feeling that parenthood meant “no freedom,” which led her to conclude early on that motherhood wasn’t for her. Protecting her independence became a priority, and she pursued her career without the responsibilities of raising children.


As she’s gotten older, Blige admitted her view has become more nuanced. While she doesn’t regret her choice, she now recognizes the value children bring to their parents’ lives, observing the bonds her relatives have formed with their families. 


She also reflected on her mother’s experience, noting that her mother gave up a singing scholarship to raise children, while Blige herself was able to follow the musical path her mother couldn’t. That contrast reinforced her appreciation for the freedom she maintained.


Her conversation with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson broadened the discussion to the societal pressures women face. 


Obama emphasized that motherhood is not a requirement for a complete life, urging women to focus on being whole individuals rather than expecting children to fill emotional gaps. 


Blige’s reflections align with this message, as she continues to highlight the importance of independence, self-awareness, and personal growth. Her honesty about both her past and her evolution offers a powerful reminder that fulfillment can take many forms.
