 Denise Richards claims she was 'scared to leave' ex Aaron Phypers in emotional interview: 'It's survival' Denise Richards has spoken openly about the difficulties she faced in her marriage to actor Aaron Phypers, describing the relationship as abusive. On the Dumb Blonde Podcast, she admitted that fear kept her from leaving, saying she felt “scared to leave” and eventually became “so beaten down” that the abuse felt normal.  Richards explained that Phypers changed dramatically after they married, leaving her feeling “conned” and trapped in a situation she never imagined herself in. Michael Douglas was joined by his daughter Carys as he received a special honour in Mallorca, Spain.

The 81-year-old actor attended a gala on August 3, where he was named one of the first Terra d’Honor ambassadors, a distinction created by Mallorca’s government to recognise individuals who have helped highlight the island’s identity and culture.

Douglas arrived at the event with Carys, 23, whom he shares with actress Catherine Zeta-Jones. The ceremony was held at the Costa Nord cultural and educational centre in Valldemossa, a facility Douglas founded.

The Wall Street star has maintained a long connection with Mallorca, purchasing his S’Estaca villa in the Tramuntana mountains in 1989. He and Zeta-Jones continue to divide their time between Mallorca and their homes in Canada, New York and Wales.

Other recipients of the Terra d’Honor recognition included fashion designer Pablo Erroz and art director Rosario Nadal.

While Douglas was honoured for his relationship with the island, Carys has continued developing her own career. She graduated from Brown University with a degree in film and international relations in 2024 and made her professional stage debut in June, portraying Nina in Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull in Brooklyn.
