Robert F Kennedy Jr. and CNN's Dana Bash get into heated clash over pandemic 'nonsense': 'You're sitting here attacking me'

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sparred with CNN anchor Dana Bash during a tense 20‑minute interview on August 2, where the two debated America’s handling of the COVID‑19 pandemic. Kennedy placed blame squarely on Dr. Anthony Fauci, dismissing the idea that Donald Trump bore responsibility as president in 2020.

When Bash pressed him on how to prevent future pandemics, Kennedy accused the media of malpractice, claiming CNN had contributed to public fear during the crisis. The exchange grew heated as Bash tried to steer the conversation toward public health solutions, while Kennedy insisted she was attacking him.

He rejected her questions about vaccines and autism, reiterating controversial claims that mainstream medical experts have repeatedly discredited. Bash countered that she was simply holding him accountable for unsupported assertions, warning against using the program as a platform for misinformation.

Following the interview, Dr. Ashish Jha criticized Kennedy’s remarks, stressing that political leaders not scientists should bear accountability for pandemic decisions. He also noted that several of Kennedy’s statements were factually incorrect, particularly his dismissal of the COVID‑19 vaccine’s effectiveness.

The episode highlighted the ongoing tension between Kennedy’s combative rhetoric and the media’s efforts to challenge misinformation in real time.
