 Former Kennedy Center employees allege leadership delayed roof repairs before citing safety issues in closure decision Former Kennedy Center employees allege that the venue’s leadership knew about serious structural problems well before citing newly discovered hazards as the reason for its abrupt closure this month. The claims were outlined in a letter to Congress from a lawyer representing anonymous whistleblowers. The letter accuses the center’s executive director and chief operating officer, Matt Floca, of failing to prioritize roof repairs and stopping a funded repair plan in April. Floca disputes the allegations, saying recent inspections revealed that water damage had spread farther into the building than officials previously knew. In a September court declaration, Floca cited “acute risks to public safety” following an inspection that found deterioration in a roof terrace canopy and a partial ceiling collapse.  Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey and Wondermind Co-Founder Sued by Investors Over Alleged $1.2 Million Securities Fraud


Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey and Wondermind co-founder Daniella Pierson have been named as defendants in a lawsuit filed by investors in the mental health startup.


The lawsuit, filed by limited liability companies Wondermind SRS 44 and Bespoke Wondermind SPV, alleges that nearly $1.2 million was invested in Wondermind based on false representations about the company and its founders.


According to court documents obtained by E! News, the investors claim they were told Gomez would be “intimately involved” with the company. 


The complaint alleges that promised partnerships and initiatives did not materialize and that an app was never built.


The investors further claim they were not informed about problems within the company and only learned about its alleged mismanagement after media reports in 2025.


The lawsuit references a September 2025 article by The Cut that included former employees’ allegations involving Teefey, which she has denied. 


It also cites an August 2025 Forbes report about tensions within Wondermind and Pierson’s departure from the company.


Pierson’s spokesperson said she would not describe her departure as being “pushed out,” adding that leaving was difficult but that she was proud of what the company had built during her time there.


Wondermind was founded in 2021 by Gomez, Teefey and Pierson as a mental health platform offering conversations, content, physical tools and a supportive community.
