 NAF COMPLETES LOCAL REASSEMBLY OF FIRST TWO H125 HELICOPTERS IN LAGOS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully completed the local reassembly of its first two H125 helicopters at NAF Base Ikeja, Lagos, following their delivery by Airbus. Conducted with the support of Airbus technical personnel, the exercise marks an important milestone in strengthening technical collaboration, facilitating knowledge transfer and enhancing NAF personnel’s practical exposure to the support and maintenance of modern rotary-wing platforms. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the development as a positive step towards strengthening the NAF’s technical and operational capacity. He stated, “Beyond acquiring modern platforms, we are committed to developing the knowledge, partnerships and support systems required to maximise their operational value and sustain them throughout their service life.” The H125 helicopters will provide valuable additional capability ...

  South Africa's Unemployment Rate Rises to 33.6% in Q2 2026


South Africa's unemployment rate climbed to 33.6% in the second quarter of 2026, up from 32.7% in the first quarter, according to new figures from the national statistics department.


The number of unemployed people rose to 8.5 million, while the number of employed people fell by 16,000 to 16.7 million.


The data shows job losses across key sectors including community and social services, mining, agriculture, manufacturing and utilities.


The steepest declines were recorded in the Western Cape, Gauteng, and North West provinces.


Officials did not provide clear reasons for the downturn, leaving the main drivers of the rising unemployment rate uncertain.
