 SANWO-OLU HOLDS SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING  Governor : We will continue to strengthen security  Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured Lagosians and visitors that the government will continue to strengthen security.  “We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” Sanwo-Olu  said.  The Governor met today September 29 with security chiefs  at the State House Marina. He was briefed on all security activities and plans to strengthen the system ahead of the end-of -year activities.  At the meeting were: Police Commissioner Tijani Fatai, Brig.Gen. A.O. Owolabi, Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Commodore A.  WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK: HEALTH DISTRICT III URGES SUSTAINED SUPPORT FOR MOTHERS BEYOND CAMPAIGN


The Lagos State Health District III has urged mothers, families, and healthcare workers to sustain efforts at promoting and supporting breastfeeding, as the 2026 World Breastfeeding Week comes to an end. 


The Permanent Secretary, Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, made this known in a statement issued to commemorate the end of the 2026 World Breastfeeding Week, noting that while the annual campaign provides an opportunity to raise awareness, the commitment to breastfeeding should continue throughout the year.


According to her, breastfeeding is more than a one-week campaign; it is a lifelong investment in the health, nutrition and development of every child and also remains one of the most effective ways to improve child survival and maternal health.


"Every mother deserves the support, information and enabling environment to initiate breastfeeding within the first few hours of birth and exclusively breastfeed for the first six months of life, while continuing breastfeeding alongside appropriate complementary feeding up to two years and beyond", she added. 


She urged residents not to allow the message of World Breastfeeding Week to end with the campaign but to translate the lessons into everyday actions that will improve child health, reduce preventable illnesses and contribute to a healthier Lagos.


Dr. Adeleke reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government through Health District III to continually strengthen maternal, newborn, and child healthcare services across all facilities in Ibeju-Lekki, Eti-Osa and Epe.
