 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 2026 Ballon D’Or: Kane, Yamal And Mbappé Headline Star-Studded 30-Man Shortlist


The race for the 2026 Ballon D’Or has officially entered its final stage, with Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé among the biggest names included in the 30-man shortlist for football’s most prestigious individual prize.


Kane has emerged as one of the leading contenders after a sensational campaign with Bayern Munich and England, while Yamal’s remarkable performances for Barcelona and Spain have strengthened his case for the award.


Mbappé is also among the headline nominees after another prolific season, while other major names on the list include Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland and Rodri.


The 2026 award is expected to be one of the most competitive in years, with performances from the domestic season and the 2026 FIFA World Cup playing a major role in the final voting.


The Ballon D’Or ceremony is scheduled to take place in London on October 26, where the successor to 2025 winner Ousmane Dembélé will be crowned.


The announcement has already intensified debate among football fans over who deserves to take home the coveted prize.
