 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 ABOGWUME CROWNED CHAMPIONS AS EZEAGU - SPONSORED 2026 EFA U - 15 TOURNAMENT ENDS IN GRAND STYLE

ABOGWUME Village emerged champions of the 2026 EFA U - 15 Football Tournament after defeating Agba village 1 -- 0 in an exciting grand finale witnessed by thousands of football enthusiasts in Ekwulobia on August 31.


The tournament, proudly sponsored by the Deputy Mayor and Mayor - Elect of Aguata Local Government Area, Hon. Kingsley Ezeagu, came to a colourful conclusion with a celebration of football youth talent, unity and community spirit.


The closing fixtures saw Umuchi village face Okpo village in the third - place encounter, while Agba village battled Abogwume in the grand finale. Abogwume eventually secured the championship with a lone goal victory over Agba.


The final was graced by the presence of the Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area Dr Chibueze Ofobuike, who officially set the grand finale in motion.


Several political and community leaders also attended the memorable occasion, among them were the APGA Local Government party Chairman, Hon. Vitalis Okoloafor, President General of Ekwulobia Town Union Chief Azubuike Ezechukwu, Ekwulobia town union executives, incumbent Aguata Councillors and some Councillors - Elect. Other distinguished sons of Ekwulobia, dignitaries and football lovers were also present to cheer the young players.


In recognition of the commitment and resilience of the participating teams, cash rewards were presented at the conclusion of the competitions. Abogwume, as champions, received the sum of N500,000 while the second - place team received N300,000 and the third - place team was rewarded with N150,000.


Hon. Ezeagu described the grand finale as an evening of conviviality, football, unity, community spirit and a celebration of young people in Aguata.


The successful conclusion of the 2026 EFA U - 15 football tournament has further underscored the power of grassroots sports to bring communities together while providing young talents with a platform to develop their skills and pursue their dreams.
