American Singer Doja Cat opens up on struggle with cocaine addiction

Doja Cat has opened up about her past struggles with cocaine, alcohol and marijuana, revealing that she battled drug use years ago but is now “well past that.”

The rapper made the admission in a series of TikTok videos posted Monday, August 31, saying she “struggled” with cocaine about eight years ago.

Doja also addressed her past relationship with alcohol and marijuana in another video, acknowledging that she had problems with both. “I was never an alcoholic, but I definitely had problems,” she said. The singer also spoke about the connection between mental health struggles and social media culture, saying the combination can be particularly difficult to deal with.

Doja addressed people online who have described her as “demonic,” appearing to push back against the criticism and the negativity she encounters on social media. While discussing her past cocaine use, Doja made clear that she considers that period of her life to be behind her, insisting that she is “well past that” now. Her candid comments come as she continues to discuss some of the personal difficulties she has faced and the impact that public scrutiny and online culture can have on mental health.
