 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 Arise TV Clash: Presidential Aide Tope Fasua Calls Out Anchor After Live Glovo Correction


A live broadcast on Arise News took an unexpected and tense turn on Saturday, September 5, 2026, when Tope Fasua, the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, clashed with anchor Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie over a factual error.


The Misleading Claim and Live Correction


While speaking on the administration's economic milestones and the foreign investment landscape, Fasua addressed the dynamics of the local delivery and tech markets. In an effort to illustrate that foreign investments were still robust, he asserted that Uber had acquired a local delivery firm.


“When Uber was leaving Nigeria, they went and bought Glovo, a Nigerian company that is into food deliveries and other kinds of deliveries. They bought that company for $16.9 billion,” Fasua claimed during the live segment.


Arise TV anchor Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie immediately stepped in to correct the factual error, clarifying that Glovo is actually a Spanish delivery startup, rather than a Nigerian-founded business.


'A Bit Rude': Fasua Reacts to Real-Time Fact-Checking


The real-time correction did not sit well with the presidential aide, who was visibly irritated by the sudden interruption. He defended his presentation style and criticized the anchor's timing, suggesting she should have allowed him to finish his thoughts before correcting the mistake.


“You could have waited for me to land… anyway, you have the platform so you can cut in anytime you like but it is a bit rude to your guest,” Fasua retorted on air.


The Importance of Fact-Checking in Public Discourse


The live exchange has sparked discussions online regarding the role of media anchors in real-time fact-checking and the responsibility of public officials to present accurate economic data. While some argue that immediate intervention is necessary to prevent misinformation, others feel that a more diplomatic approach would keep public discourse constructive.
