 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

 ASUU-KASU Begins Indefinite Strike Over Unimplemented 2025 Agreement


The Kaduna State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU-KASU) has commenced an indefinite industrial action following the expiration of its two-week warning strike.


The union’s decision followed a resolution reached at its Congress on August 12, 2026, to declare an industrial dispute over what it described as the non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government of Nigeria-ASUU Agreement.


According to the union, the agreement, which took effect in January 2026, is yet to be domesticated by Kaduna State University.


Among the outstanding issues cited by ASUU-KASU are the implementation of the 25–35 per cent salary increase, university autonomy and payment of outstanding promotion arrears.


The union had earlier embarked on a two-week warning strike to press its demands. With the expiration of the warning strike and what it described as the failure to resolve the outstanding issues, the chapter has now proceeded with an indefinite strike.


Meanwhile, the university management has appealed to the union to suspend the industrial action, citing ongoing dialogue and intervention efforts by the Kaduna State Government.


The management expressed its commitment to resolving the issues through negotiation and urged the union to return to the negotiating table in the interest of students and the university community.


The development is expected to affect academic activities at Kaduna State University as efforts continue to resolve the dispute.
