Dolly Parton’s Nephew Ousted as Head of Security for Estate: ‘Unexpected and, So Far, Unexplained Actions’
Dolly Parton’s nephew Bryan Seaver has been removed from his longtime role overseeing security connected to the late country music legend’s estate amid an escalating and deeply personal family dispute.
Seaver, the son of Parton’s sister Cassie, spent more than two decades working as his aunt’s head of security and was considered one of the most trusted members of her inner circle.
But following Parton’s death at age 80, that relationship with the organization overseeing her professional legacy has dramatically fallen apart.
She’s Alive LLC, the company responsible for managing and protecting Parton’s business interests, terminated its relationship with Seaver and his security company, Squadron Augmented Protection Services.
Seaver has now spoken out about his removal, describing it as the result of “unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions” by people overseeing his aunt’s affairs.
He maintains that he has not been given an adequate explanation for why he was removed from the security position he held for decades.
The termination is part of a much larger legal battle that has erupted between Seaver and Parton’s business organization.
In a civil lawsuit, She’s Alive LLC has accused Seaver of making threatening and intimidating statements toward Parton’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell, as well as employees, attorneys and others connected to the estate.
The company alleges that Seaver referenced his background in security and military contracting while making statements that left some employees fearful for their safety.
Among the most serious allegations, Seaver is accused of referring to himself as “a killer” and allegedly warning that people should be concerned about what he might do.
The estate also claims he threatened to damage Parton’s business relationships and “destroy the brand.”
Seaver has disputed the estate’s interpretation of his comments.
He has maintained that statements cited in the lawsuit have been taken out of context and that some were made during emotional private conversations while he was grieving his aunt.
His representatives have also argued that the dispute stems from concerns Seaver raised about how Parton’s affairs were being handled.
The conflict is especially striking because of the close relationship Seaver shared with his aunt.
Parton trusted him not only with her personal security but also with one of the most difficult responsibilities imaginable: announcing her death to the world.
Following Parton’s death, Seaver appeared in an emotional video explaining that she had personally asked him years earlier to make the announcement when the time came.
Now, the man once entrusted with protecting Parton personally is fighting with the organization tasked with protecting her professional legacy.
The dispute has already reached the courts.
A Tennessee judge granted a temporary restraining order requiring Seaver to stay at least 1,000 feet away from certain employees, attorneys and business associates connected to She’s Alive LLC. The order also restricts certain communications and alleged interference with the organization’s business relationships.
Seaver continues to deny that he intended to threaten anyone.
The allegations against him remain claims made as part of an ongoing civil dispute and have not been established as fact at trial.
What began as an employment termination has now developed into a bitter legal fight involving accusations of threats, disagreements over Parton’s legacy and competing accounts of what happened behind the scenes after her death.
For Seaver, his removal marks a dramatic end to a role he held for more than 20 years — protecting an aunt who was also one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world.
